Prof. MAK Man-Wai

Hong Kong Polytechnic University

BIO: Dr. Man-Wai Mak joined the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering (EIE) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1993 as a Lecturer and is currently a Professor of EIE. Dr. Mak has been the leader of various subject areas, such as deep neural networks and deep learning, human-computer interaction, speech processing and recognition, distributed systems, and cloud computing. Dr. Mak has successfully supervised several Ph.D. students and researchers who have become scientists or postdocs in major research labs and renowned universities. Some examples are Microsoft, Tencent, National University of Singapore, Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, USA. He has authored more than 200 technical articles and books in speaker recognition, machine learning, bioinformatics, and biomedical engineering, including "Biometric Authentication: A Machine Learning Approach," Prentice-Hall, 2005; "Machine Learning for Protein Subcellular Localization Prediction," De Gruyter, 2015; and "Machine Learning for Speaker Recognition," Cambridge University Press, 2020. Dr. Mak served as a member of the IEEE Machine Learning for Signal Processing Technical Committee in 2005-2007 and a Technical Committee Member, IEEE Computation Intelligence Society, Intelligent Systems Applications in 2008. He has served as an associate editor of IEEE Trans. on Audio, Speech and Language Processing. Dr. Mak is currently an editorial board member of the Journal of Signal Processing Systems and IEEE Biometrics Compendium. He has also served as the Programme Co-Chair of ISCSLP and Area Chair of Interspeech 2014. He is currently the Interim Head of the department. His research interest includes speaker recognition, machine learning, biomedical engineering, and bioinformatics.

Prof. Kan Zheng

Ningbo University, China

BIO: Professor Zheng Kan is a professor at the School of Information Science and Engineering, Ningbo University. His research interests include wireless communication system optimization and intelligent computing. He has made remarkable research achievements in the key technologies of vehicle networking and 5G/6G.Professor Zheng Kan has been engaged in the research of wireless network resource management for a long time, and has hosted or participated in a large number of national scientific research projects, including the Nature Foundation project, the National Science and Technology major project, the national 973 project and the 863 project. He has published more than 200 academic papers in international academic journals and conferences, of which more than 40 papers are the first author papers in SCI retrieval, and his papers have been cited more than 12,000 times in Google Scholar, and a number of papers have been selected as ESI highly cited papers and ESI hot papers. He has also won many honors, including the New Century Talents of the Ministry of Education, the second prize of Natural Science of the Ministry of Education, the second prize of Natural Science of Beijing and the second prize of Science and Technology of the Chinese Society of Electronics.

Prof. Keng L. SIAU

City University of Hong Kong

BIO: Professor Siau is the Lee Kong Chian Professor of Information Systems at the School of Computing and Information Systems, Singapore Management University. From June 2021 to June 2024, he was the Head of the Department of Information Systems and Chair Professor of Information Systems at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU). He was also an Affiliated Chair Professor of the School of Data Science and an Affiliated Professor of the CityU Academy of Innovation. Prior to joining CityU, he was Head (“Business Dean” equivalent) of the AACSB accredited Business Program at the Missouri University of Science and Technology from 2012 to 2021. Professor Siau received his Ph.D. in Business Administration with a specialization in Management Information Systems from the University of British Columbia. Professor Siau has more than 350 academic publications. According to Google Scholar, he has a citation count of more than 24,000. His h-index and i10-index, according to Google Scholar, are 77 and 205 respectively. He is also on the Stanford University list of the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists. Professor Siau is an AIS Distinguished Member–Cum Laude. He is a recipient of the prestigious International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Outstanding Service Award in 2006, IBM Faculty Awards in 2006 and 2008, IBM Faculty Innovation Award in 2010, AIS Sandra Slaughter Service Award in 2019, AIS Award for Outstanding Contribution to IS Education in 2019, AIS Fellow Award in 2022, and AMCIS Outstanding Leader Award in 2023.
